Membership in the Northwood HOA is automatic and mandatory for everyone who owns a home in the Northwood Subdivision. The HOA is a non-profit corporation registered with the State and managed by a duly elected Board of Directors. Our purpose is to maintain all common areas and amenities and to govern the community in accordance with the governing documents.

Governing Documents determine the structure of the HOA and establish obligations and responsibilities of its members and elected officers and directors. Each owner is responsible to adhere to the provisions set forth the governing documents. Governing Documents include: Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions.

All affairs of the Association are conducted by the Board of Directors or elected and /or appointed officers of the Board. Northwood HOA has 4 Board Members.  The corporation is financially supported by all members of the HOA. Assessments (HOA) dues are fees imposed upon each home or lot owner by the HOA to cover common expenses and maintain a reserve fund for the periodic maintenance, inspection, repair and replacement of improvements to Northwood's common areas.

Northwood History

The old settlers say a spring located directly north of Naughton Park was once a watering stop for wagon trains. They filled their barrels with water, washed clothes, fixed meals and overnighted there before moving on. The old spring was later uncovered and then covered over with what is now Meadowview Lane.

In 1984, Jack and Evalyn Naughton purchased this 37 acre property. It was still in it’s natural state filled with many oak trees and wildlife. The Veal Spring Creek ran from the NE corner of the property exiting thru the culvert on FM 2181 on its way to the Little Elm Reservoir, now Lake Lewisville.

In 1986 the Naughton’s built a home on the south side of Veal Spring Creek. Jack cleared the underbrush, planted coastal in an open area and grazed yearling cattle.

By 1998 the place had become too much to take care of so they decided to have the land developed. They searched for a developer who would "Save the Trees". The Wilbow Corporation agreed not to clearcut and only remove the trees from the streets, utility easement, house and driveways. This new subdivision named Northwood is today one of the premier neighborhoods in Corinth.

Willard "Jack" Naughton was born in a sod house near Anton, Colorado on land granted his parents by President Woodrow Wilson. WW II found Jack joining the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic serving on the island of Biak, north of western New Guinea. After the war, he joined American Airlines and proudly flew as a Flight Engineer for 40 years retiring in 1986. While working for American Airlines, he flew M.A.C. (Military Airlift Command) ferrying men and supplies in and out of Vietnam during that conflict. Jack passed away in December 2005.

Evalyn McClure, Jack’s one true love, and Jack were married in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1951. Evalyn was instrumental in keeping vigil on the developers and builders to make sure they only took down the necessary trees and also named the streets within the subdivision.
